4 Must-Have Elements for an Engaging Newsletter

An easy way to #stayCC (consistently caring!) is by sending a monthly newsletter to all of your connections. Keeping a consistent branded bundle of information and care in your connections’ mailboxes or inboxes will help you stay top of mind when they think of real estate.

While some newsletters can tend to be a little stiff and monotonous, Unicorn Agents’ newsletters are always beautiful and wonderfully engaging. If you want to have your connections excitedly anticipating your monthly reach out, include the following elements in your Unicorn Agent newsletters.

Something Fun

Not everyone loves looking at real estate data, so just like you would for not-so-engaged students in a classroom, you make it fun! Try adding in a different way to present information to really have people check out the information you’re giving them. Check out this example from one of my newsletters back in 2020. P.S. Can you believe the home prices just 2 years ago?! My, how the world has changed.

Who doesn’t love trying to get the right answer?! If you include a riddle-type area within your newsletter, you’re almost guaranteed to have people stick around to read and try! Your connections will appreciate the brain teaser – my connections loved it!

Something Helpful

The number one item in my real estate newsletters that clients told me they loved was the monthly home maintenance tips. I even had one client who would use the tips to keep up on maintenance at her coffee shop! Monthly home maintenance tips are such a perfect mix of helpful and on-brand. You are a real estate agent so of course you want to help people take care of their homes!

We have the very best tips in the very cutest of formats. So many options, and SO many people love reading these tips! Something Warm

Reserve space in your newsletter to send a special message to your people. This space can be used to talk about something cool that happened to you, or use it to celebrate your connections! Think of this of sending some warm Unicorn love to bring joy to someone’s day!

Some ideas:

  • Wish happy birthdays to anyone in your newsletter list who is celebrating that month. This will help create a community between your connections.
  • Share what you’re currently reading, watching, or creating!
  • Tell a story about something that happened to you in the business, or something that you learned.
  • Tell your people what you are looking forward to doing that month.
  • Give a family update and convey that you care about the families/special people in your connections’ lives.
  • Why you care about real estate and why you work hard to make sure you take care of your clients.

Something Local

There are so many things happening around us in our local market, and you can support your city and support small businesses by including some cool local news. Have you gone to a new shop or a new restaurant lately? Tell your people about it! Do you have the inside scoop on new businesses or upcoming happenings? Share the details!

You can make your connections feel in the know if you give them good information about things happening around them. You can also deepen your connection with people when you share about things that you are authentically interested in. I once used a local event to build connections in my newsletter – check it out below for inspiration!

This content was included in an emailed newsletter, and I linked to the event so my connections could easily click for more information.

You may have noticed that we left off straight-up “market insights”, and we did that intentionally. We do think it is important to give updates to your connections (anything like median days on market, hottest part of towns for sales, median home prices), but these items are not going to be the things that have your connections anxiously opening your digital letters each month.

Your connections are humans, so give them a wonderful human connection and create a good feeling that you want people to feel when they think of you, or when they think of real estate. If you can create that warm happy feeling, you are going to be blessed with consistent business with great people 🙂
